Story - Tivol
For more than 90 years,
Tivol (www.tivol.com) has
been serving the needs of discerning jewelry buyers in the Kansas
City area. It was in 1910 that Charles Tivol, a young man who
had immigrated to the United States only six years before, opened
a jewelry shop in the Altman Building in downtown Kansas City.
It was in his small shop at 11th and Walnut streets that Tivol
toiled at his bench, meticulously crafting each piece of jewelry,
and earning the trust and respect of a growing clientele. Needless
to say, much has changed in the world since then. But the high
standard of craftsmanship, style, service and impeccable business
ethics that Charles Tivol set just after the turn of the 20th
century have remained unchanged through the turn of the 21st century.
While the Tivol philosophy has remained steady, the business itself
has grown and evolved considerably over the decades. Now with
locations on the Country Club Plaza and at Hawthorne Plaza and
customers worldwide, technology plays a key role in supporting
the business.
Jeremy Shaffer, Tivol’s Operations Manager, had a lot on
his plate in 2002. He was the Operations Manager and he was also
tasked with supporting all of the technology at Tivol. He tried
hiring an internal employee to take over the support but found
it difficult to get all of the skills needed in one person. During
this time he was introduced to Versent ‘the purple guys”
and decided to try outsourcing their technology support.
“Versent came in and quickly understood what we needed to
keep our systems up and running,” said Shaffer.
“They provide advice on what technology will benefit our
operations and they allow me to focus on being the Operations
Manger. Basically, I now have peace of mind that our technology
is taken care of.”
The purple guys understand that their role is to support Tivol’s
primary goal, to continue to maintain the level of excellence
that Tivol has achieved thus far, carrying the finest, most unique
jewelry products available on the market.
