Purple Particulars - Is Purple the new Black?

This month’s Purple Particulars takes you to the heart of the world with the new hot color in men’s clothing: purple! Fashion expert Chris Rovny, from askmen.com, fill us in.

"Every season, one or two colors really stand out from the conventional colors seen in most popular men's collections. Last summer, we saw the resurgence of pink in everything from T-shirts to Capri pants for men. This season, the ‘in’ color is purple.

For those of you who keep abreast of the latest trends, buy yourself at least one or two purple pieces and combine them with more classic pieces to set yourself apart from the crowd.

Mainstream stores might not carry these colors at this point in time, so you might have to shop in more exclusive, stylish stores to find what you're looking for. Trust me, it's worth paying a little extra to be different. But chances are you'll get your money's worth since the majority of stores will start selling clothing in shades of purple, and you'll be able to wear your shirt for at least two seasons.

A metallic purple dressy shirt is a perfect complement to a black or gray suit. It will add both color and style to your ensemble. Wear these modern shirts with sportier pants, or for more formal occasions, wear them with a solid tie. This winning combination is guaranteed to make you look nice and distinguished.

V-necks and conventional knits will not only always remain stylish, but they also go with any body type and any clothing style. Because purple is a very rich and striking color, you'll have to pay extra attention to what you wear.

Purple shirts can look great with various tones of black, gray and even brown. Make sure to select a shirt that matches at least several jeans, corduroys or khakis of yours. It'll also look nice under a stylish blazer or with black leather pants. Remember to always have clean and fashionable looking shoes to harmonize with the rest of your attire.

A tasteful purple turtleneck can look great under a slick black leather jacket with black pants, or simply with a chic pair of gray or black jeans. Opt for darker shades seeing as they look less flashy and are superior in terms of quality. These combinations are guaranteed winners that will make you look magnificent throughout the fall and winter season.” – Chris Rovny, askmen.com
